Please contact Bill to learn more information on our horses. Below are a couple of our gentle geldings currently being used for working the youngsters on our ranch. All of our horses receive our age appropriate "Solid Foundations" training, exposure and are ready to go any direction.
Roosters Dandy Bar aka "Dandy"
2014 Bay Gelding | AQHA # 5605243
Dandy is a 2014 - AQHA Bay Gelding. He is 15.1H tall and weighs about 1200#. With GALLO DEL CELIO on his papers and double bred ZAN PARR BAR this horse has a terrific mix of cow and speed in his pedigree that everyone looks for.
This has been Bill’s favorite go-to-horse for the past 2 years, he’s as touch-button and ready-to-ride as they come. Dandy has been on our ranch since he was a 2-year-old and we brought him along nice and slow, never pushed too hard but exposed to a lot. He is well started with handling a rope, logs and pulls from the horn, been ridden on mountain trails in the Absaroka Mountains, trailed and gathered cattle, good to picket by a hind foot, will hobble, high line and pack. He’s not cinchy, there’s no nonsense or bad habits in this horse!
He’s a very safe, sure footed, and sensible horse with a great mind, disposition and a pleasure to be around. He has the potential to be an all-around horse as a head horse or barrel horse, with the mind to handle all the ranch work then head out on a mountain trail to help drag dinner home.
This gelding, with his young age and athleticism, is rated as a #3, but we haven’t found much that ever bothers this gelding. He's going to be a great arena prospect, performance or working ranch horse and possibly a horse that could compete on the polo field.
He was started in a snaffle bit using natural horsemanship, also rides well in a light transition bit or bosal and will now carry a bit and ride smoothly between the bridle reins. Moves softly off foot and leg pressure, is very light and responsive. Lopes nice collected circles in both leads, good lateral and vertical flexation. He has all the heart and try you could ever ask for in a horse along with a mind that will be able to handle a lot of pressure.
This is a horse that travels out smooth, with a real ground covering walk. They won the west on this type of black footed, kind eyed, deep cinching, bay gelding. He’s one that will never quit and can do it all with the best part of his life still ahead of him.
Hotrodders Two Hat aka "Cowboy"
2012 Sorrel Gelding | AQHA # 5477566
Cowboy is 2012 Sorrel Gelding, 15H tall and about 1150#, with LUCKY TWO HAT, HOTRODDIN COWBOY, double bred ZAN PARR BAR and PITZER Ranch breeding in his pedigree this is truly an authentic performance horse prospect. Cowboy is a pleasure to be around, not cinchy, never offered to buck with an abundance of personality.
He's has been on the ranch since he was a 2-year-old and has been Jody's, go-to-horse for the past 5 years. He has carried her safely for miles hunting and trail riding and taken great care of her. Always the one at the gate and ready to go to work, he has the kind of forward motion that every working ranch gelding should have and never ceases to leave you laughing when you least expect it.
We have flagged, driven and started colts on Cowboy for the past three years, he will log and pull from the horn and is well started with a rope. This is a very responsive and sensitive horse that will really ride around between the bridle reins. Good to catch, bathe, load and shoe, good to hobble and will picket out in the mountains by a hind foot. He’s made many trips to the North Absaroka and Washakie Wilderness riding, leading pack strings and hunting.
Cowboy can do it all but should really make an outstanding break-away, calf, heel, or polo horse. Don’t be deceived by his size, this horse has all the heart, try and horse power that you could ever ask for. He has an exceptionally smooth, walk-a-hole in the wind, ground covering walk and will go all day long for you. He’s gathered and trailed cattle all over our state and BLM leases and will travel out alone without any issues.
We are in the business of bringing up young horses the right way and he’s been in good hands his entire life. We rate him as a number 3 for disposition because of his athleticism, forward motion and get it done approach to ranch work.
